Nouns of the fourth declension end in –us in the Nom. sing. and are mainly masculine. A few end in –u and are neuter.

A few nouns are feminine, eg. manus, us f – hand, acus, us f – acus and the names of the trees.
To make the nouns of the IV-th declention plural, study the example given below.
For masculine gender:
Nominativus Singularis - processus
Nominativus Pluralis - processus
Genetivus Singularis - processus
Genetivus Pluralis - processuum
For neuter gender:
Nominativus Singularis - cornu
Nominativus Pluralis - cornua
Genetivus Singularis - cornus
Genetivus Pluralis - cornuum
There are only a few nouns of the fifth declension. All end in –es in Nom. sing. Most are feminine, but dies, ei m – day and meridies, ei f – midday are masculine. The word species, ei f – species (mixture of herbs) is used only in pluralis.
